While you were sleeping.
statue stone.
while you were dreaming.
I was next to you.

stared at the ceiling.
what are we doin?
with no one watching
we become monsters

and we lie.
in this bed.

I crawl from the blankets
flee from the room
we’ve murdered the magic
and sealed the tomb.
I plan my excuses
as I take to the street
I’d rather be lonely
then share in our defeat

and we lie.
in this bed.

While you were sleeping
did you think of me?
did I cross your mind?
Do you think you see me?

Hold me off of 2nd street

With all the glitter and the broken dreams

These drunken strangers soon will leave

As for me, well, I’ll be here

And maybe in a few more years

I’ll find my way back

To where I’m from

Home, it’s never enough

then it’s gone.

How did you stray so far?

You followed your dreams and

It suddenly seems that

You never can go back.

So I visit my old house.

I never thought I’d miss this town

Please don’t change.

I’ve changed enough.

Home, it’s never enough

then it’s gone.

How did you stray so far?

You followed your dreams and

It suddenly seems that

You never can go back.

the baby is sleeping

the fire is warm

the baby is sleeping

the rabbit is hiding

the rabbit is hiding in the corn

The leaves are crimson

the fields are brown

the leaves are crimson

the world is on fire

the whole wide world is burning down

I’m reaching now, I’m reaching out

I’m reaching in and I’m reaching down

through smoke and flames

through glass and waves

beyond these walls

beyond this grave

I’m reaching now, I’m reaching now

I’m reaching down

The Hunter is knocking

Don’t let him in

The Hunter is knocking

he’s hungry again.

The hunter is hungry again.

I’m reaching now, I’m reaching out

I’m reaching in and I’m reaching down

The baby is sleeping

the fire is warm….

race down the hallways

so lit up and crawling

with motionless images

of postmodern innocents (innocence)

you’re reaching the end

but they won’t let you in

the doors are all locked

you’ve been judged for your sins

you rip through the plaster

like a natural disaster

drop to your knees

beg for release

but no one is listening

your arms are resisting

as the brick wall reveals itself

boxing you in.

Love can you see me I’ve been blind?

Love will you betray me again?

Godless and Free

You so arrogantly

credit yourself

for this beauty you see

but then when your clock hits

the hour of darkness

you abandon your logic

let your heart take the lead

Love can you see me I’ve been blind?

Love I will betray you again.

You came to this place

with a name and a face

one of a kind

you can’t be replaced

but a name is just letters

and a face is just skin

where is my self

and where did I begin?

Love can you see me I’ve been blind?

Love I won’t betray you again.

paper doll who told you that you had it all?

what made you think you’d never fall

when your heaven was your sin

shiny one stars are falling from your hair

you’re stumbling down the castle stairs

the night is closing in

and that faded rose

there between your perfect teeth

like all of this beauty you see

it’s only in your mind

misery raining like a thousand drums

causing all the color to run

from your masterpiece

paper doll welcome to the beggar’s ball

are you ready for your curtain call

we’ve been waiting for you

slowly girl step here in to this real world

the open hand reveals the pearl

was nothing but a stone

and that faded rose

there between your perfect teeth

like all of this beauty you see

it’s only in your mind

gradually everything you think you need

will fall in to the mystery

right before your eyes

Across the fields I see locusts

Black smoke in the sky

I’m not ready for this

my one and only wish

was to sleep well tonight

fires burnin’ on the highway

bodies floatin’ in the lakes

you think you’re dreamin’

then you hear yourself scream

and you know you’re awake

Swallow the Sun    desecrate the grave

you’d better run run run run run run run

from the mess that you’ve made

they’ve closed the road to Memphis

The lawyers shut it down

I can’t help but believe

the very last thing we need

is more lawyers now

Cell phones out of order

Stasis own the web

can you tell me the difference

between peaceful resistance

and rolling over dead

Swallow the sun

take take take take

and when everything’s gone

and you’re the only one

you’ll swallow the sun

I feel just like Helen Kellar

moving step by step

If you feel a little queasy

let me tell you it’s easy

you just help yourself

Swallow the sun….

slow as she comes

she doesn’t feel the same no more

she’s like a stranger at my door

it’s gone won’t return

the well has dried despite the flood

all that’s left is caked in mud… below

the depths of which the light will barely show (glow)

lines in the dirt

now determine hers and mine

make it  quick we’re out of time

it’s blood on the walls

we scrub to clean the surface stains

but still the cracks are filled and look like veins

this place wasn’t built to keep us safe

run, but don’t run away

there’s something that I’ve wanted to say

death ain’t sex, death is love…

slow as she goes

she doesn’t feel the pain no more

like a soldier numb to war

it’s gone and won’t return

I try to make the hurt  imbue

but all my jagged words cannot cut through

so here i stand with nothing but the truth

ringin’ in my head.

death ain’t sex, death is love…

Bring Your Love Back Home

highways like rivers

that don’t stop running

pavement water

can’t find it’s ocean

but there you are

out there drifting

and here i am

land locked, missing, you…

i wont ask you where you go

as long as i know you bring your love back home

kept you straying

from safer water

but wild currents

were pulling harder

curious comfort

in the midnight stars

if you see what i see

you’re not that far

I’ve known this day

was on it’s way

for some time

but i held you here

because of fear

of letting go

please forgive my selfish heart

i couldn’t find the strength to play my part

the passing hours age these scars

i never thought it would be this hard

when you were young

and life was fun

i found you smiling

that sideways look

was all it took

to know you  were mine

As the years went racing by

A haze of graceful aging filled your eyes

I always knew we’d reach this part

But I never thought it would be this hard

goodbye my friend

we’ve reached the  bend.

Those times we shared

I’ll hold them dear

in my mind

I’ve known this day

was on it’s way.

sunshine on my face

a touch of grace

from so far away

sunshine where’d you go?

would you please let me know

that you’ll be coming home

Sunshine I remember

driving home one december

you’d hid away the sky was gray

frost bite to the bone

Sometimes, I feel so alone

like these flesh and bones

ain’t got no soul

But Sunshine with all your might

you’ll make things right

you’ll make things right

Sunshine I remember …

Sunshine  You’re runnin’ late

but I can wait. I can wait.

here they come, daggers raised

they’ve come for us and they won’t wait.

i see them trample the weaker ones.

but they don’t know what I’m capable of

I’m wide awake now.

I’m wide awake now.

All my friends are so far apart

take it for granted how young they are

rather than stumble towards the end

I’m gathering speed, I am the wind.

I’m wide awake now.

I’m wide awake now.

I just can’t watch the years float by

I’m too young I’m not ready to die.

I’m wide awake now.

I’m wide awake now.

here they come, daggers raised

they’ve come for blood and they won’t wait.

i see them trample the weaker ones.

but they don’t know that  I’ve already won
